FO Friday or Once a Cheater...

It's FO Friday again!  The day of the week that most inspires me to leave my integrity in the dust.  Here I am, playing along with a post, and I'm still (kinda) not done.  Boo.  I had 2 whole days to install my zipper, which I figured would be no problem with my knitting guru neighbor and her trusty sewing machine.

Turns out she wasn't home, then the ladies in my knitting group disapproved en masse of a machine-installed zipper.  Apparently, it's not what you do.  Who knew?  Not me, that's for sure.  So here we are late on Thursday night, with the zipper pinned into the sweater and Mr. Right carefully tucked inside.  I think it looks pretty good...

Of course, it'll look a bit better once it's actually done, but I'm going to give myself the weekend to try and sew it in for reals.  You guys still respect me, right?

In other news, I took the afternoon off yesterday to go to lunch with my knitting group and then sit around all afternoon chatting and knitting.  It was really, really fun.  And I got a fair amount done on the cable lace vest, though with all that chatting-while-lace-knitting, there was quite a bit of tinking going on, too.  I finished the bottom section though and got a few short rows under my belt while I had folks to hold my hand.  Turns out they're not so bad. Yay!

Go check out Tami's blog, where loads of other folks have posted their latest finished objects, which are all probably more finished than mine.

Happy Almost Weekend!

  1. It looks great now it's all blocked and purty! I cannot knit lace while chatting. I get so distracted it ends up a tangled mess. That's why I always gave several projects on the go at once. There's a WIP for every occasion.

  2. It's looking good. You have permission to count it as a FO. It's off needles right? Little things like zippers, buttons, blocking don't count < wink wink >

  3. I'm glad you decide to post for FO Friday. It's virtually done and it looks great!
I always do a lot of tinking after chatting at knitting group too. : )

  4. It looks great! Good luck with sewing the zipper on :)

  5. YAYAYAYAY, see I call this finished! It's SOO close, no cheating at all! It looks SOOOO good. You should be crazy proud of it. I just showed my husband and he said it looked "real" and that he thinks GAP sold it awhile back. LOL

  6. Oh my goodness glory girl, this Ozark Farm Chick is impressed!!! I'm not a knitter...just waaay to spastic for it but I'm in awe of those who do. I just popped over from PW's pies...weren't they the bee's knees???

From the beautiful sunny hills and hollers of the Missouri Ponderosa, ya'll have a wonderfully blessed weekend!!!

  7. Hey sweetie, I just wanted to thank your for your visit and sweet comment over at my place. Please drop in often, the door of the Ponderosa is always open.

    God bless ya! :o)

  8. Looks great! I haven't knit anything that requires a zipper yet - but, since in my sewing projects the zippers are usually my least favorite part, I can't see myself liking the installation into a knit garment either!

  9. avast looks awesome!! i'd be interested to hear how the installation of the zipper goes...that is something i was toying with for the central park hoodie...but i have zero sewing skillz...:)
