Finished Object Friday

Welcome to Finished Object Friday, brought to you by the same lovely and talented folks who sponsor Work In Progress Wednesday.  I'm so excited to finally get to participate!

This week, I FINALLY sewed the buttons onto my Katrina Ballerina cardigan (note:  I'm not selling patterns, really.  The etsy link is the only non-Ravelry I could find) that I finished knitting in July.  Three weeks on the needles, 3 months waiting for buttons.  I'd be ashamed of myself, but it was too blinking hot to wear it, so it didn't really count as slacking, right?

Anyway, here she is:

I'm really pleased with the way this turned out.  It was a lot of fun to knit (my first top down sweater), and I think it looks pretty good on...

And from the back...

The only trouble I had was blocking it.  The pattern says to "block the lace section aggressively".  I'm a big instruction follower.  And when I was done, the sweater came to my knees.  Not exactly the look I was going for.  So I blocked it again, and everything came out A-OK (much to my relief).  My ravelry project page is here, in case you're interested in any of the nitty gritty details.

And, for those keeping track, Mr. Right's Avast is officially all one piece.  Huzzah!

Happy weekend, everybody!

  1. Very pretty, I really like that sweater. It looks really good on you. You kind of have to be careful blocking lace, especially if you are short like me.

Yay, you got your Mr. Right together.

  2. Ooh, I like it, especially being red/pink. I always discount short-sleeved cardigans because I'm a cold-body, but that looks really good with a long-sleeved top underneath, and it highlights the lace.

    *goes to search Ravelry...*

  4. I love the sweater. It is perfect for Autumn. I'm living in that sort of style of sweater at the moment, they are perfect ways to transition from the warmer to weather to the cooler. The yarn looks very pretty too.

  6. Loverly!! Of course, now I have a mental picture of you in pirates garb with a saber clutched in your teeth, blocking the heck out of the lace section.

How else would you block anything "agressively?"

    It looks fantastic on you.
