Work in Progress Wednesday v.126

Happy WIPWednesday, peeps!  I'm still here, and while I don't have anything even remotely exciting to share with you, I can promise that I really have been knitting my fingers off of late.  Evidence:

That right there is a solid 12.5" of Austin Hoodie body.  I know it doesn't look like much, but really it's a megaton of knitting in frustratingly skinny yarn.  I really, really, really want to have this finished to wear to Stitches West next month, but I'm not sure I'll make it.  Cross y'er fingers for me?

The most annoying thing about this is that it's a New Year, and I've survived the holidays, and I have some time finally, and I want to knit ALL THE THINGS.  Right now, please.  And so I'm knitting like a crazy person and making not much visible progress since I'm working at such an itsy gauge.

Only one thing to do:  Cast on Something Else!  Of course, that's the answer to all manner of knitting dilemmas, right?  So by next week, this little pile of yarn...

Should look a little more like a Baby Sophisticate.  Yay for instant gratification projects!*

*Yes.  I'm well aware that this will actually slow my hoodie pace, thus actually preventing me from achieving my goal.  But don't bother me with details right now, there is a shiny new pattern to be conquered!  Woot!

PS.  You can feel free to pull out the I-told-ya-so's next week when I'm crying about my snail's pace.  I think that's fair.  Until then, go check out all the other (slightly more sane) WIPW entries over at Tami's.  They're sort of universally awesome.

  1. You're coming to play at Stitches West?! That will be fabulous :) Classes? Shopping? Huh? I have a class on Saturday and am planning to shop on Friday but that's still a bit up in the air right now. We shall see how things turn out.

Also, I find that knitting late at night helps things grow faster. I don't know why though.

  2. Fingers crossed for you! I think skinny yarn for garments looks great, but I envy those with the patience to knit them, I don't think I could manage!

  3. ooh gorgeous colour for the hoodie, really pretty - i'll keep my fingers crossed for you!! have a knitty wednesday xx

  4. I for one am sure you will finish in time. I'll be your cheerleader, you can do it!

  5. I so love you WIP Wednesday updates. :) I just can't imagine knitting a sweater in fingering - more power to you!

  6. Would we do that? Nope, cause then when we pull the same stunt you could then tell us "told you so", and there is no more horrible phrase uttered in the English language than that!

  7. Your WIP is beautiful but I totally know how you feel about what to get something finished and quickly! I'm working on a throw blanket and I feel like I could have finished about two other items in the span it's taken me to get only 1/3 of the way done! Well good luck with the hoodie and your Baby Sophisticate. I'll look forward to seeing how much you've get done by next WIP Wed.

  8. I can't imagine being able to knit non-stop on a fingering weight sweater without taking a little break. Baby Sophisticate is an adorable pattern. I wish it came in my size.

  9. Ugh, that sweater would kill me, but it's looking really fantastic! I love the color.
