Work In Progress Wednesday v.38

By the time you read this, I'll be jetting off to Kansas City for a couple of days of fun-filled meetings.  Jealous?  Yeah, I thought so.  But while I'm in transit, I'll be knitting my fingers off on my shiny new project.  Yay!  Let me introduce you to the Super Secret Socks.

Okay, so there's not much to look at yet.  But with two plane rides and a night alone in a hotel room, there should be lots more to see by this time next week.  Fingers crossed!  The pattern is the Yarn Harlot's Earl Grey, and the yarn is a skein of Pagewood Farm Chugiak that I had to put into time out after last year's Hedgerow Socks fiasco.  (Really, I blame me.  Both the pattern and the yarn are lovely.)  Anyway, I'm hoping for a much more successful union of yarn and pattern this time around.  And so far (that's 70 stitches cast on and one whole round of ribbing!), so good.

The Super Secret series of projects will continue for a while, I'm afraid.  But at some point in the next couple of months, I'll reveal their true purpose.  Promise!  In the mean time, feel free to enter your guesses in the comments.  That should make for some entertaining reading for all of us!

In other news, the Snoopy Dishcloth is finished and end-woven and really, super cute.  I'll be back on Friday for the final unveiling.  Until then, I'll be scouting my next washcloth pattern.  They're fun and strangely satisfying.  Go figure.

**Warning:  Boring Hockey Talk Below**

Finally, this week...  Yay, Sharks!  My boys (who generally play like champions all season and then spend the playoffs running around in circles clutching their pearls) managed to fight their way into round 2 last night.  Very exciting indeed.  Well, for everyone but Tami -- since the team they beat was her Kings.  Her guys put up a great fight, though.  It was an exciting series for sure.

**End Boring Hockey Talk**

So, hope y'all have a great rest of the week.  I'll be stopping everyone's WIPW entries when I get home. I can't believe how much we're growing.  It's awesome!

  1. Looking good so far xD I love Super Secret Projects, as they keep me coming back to see their progress! Have a lovely trip! x

  2. Good luck with the yarn/pattern combination for the socks. I am looking forward to seeing more of the super secret projects.

  3. Hey, my hockey team seems to have the same play-off affliction (imagine being the top team all year, going up 3-0 in your first series and they taking until OT in game 7 to finish it... oh wait, you don't have to imagine it, it's actually happening in Vancouver). What is with that!!!
I'm happy for you & your Sharks - until they play the Canucks that is.
Have a great trip. A night alone in a hotel room ANYWHERE sounds like bliss to me!

  4. I love that sock pattern, the tiny cables are so elegant! I hope the travel-knitting works out well. :D And I can't wait to see Snoopy on Friday.

  5. That looks very complicated!! I've never even used double pointed needles!!

  6. I enjoy hearing about the super secret projects. I bet you are knitting codes into them because you are a spy and that is why you are off to Kansas City. Or something like that:)

  7. Although it's nice that the Sharks have advanced to round 2, it'll be the Canucks that bring home the cup this year! =)

  8. Hockey talk is not boring. It can be maddening though (my boys lost first round *sigh*). I really couldn't decide which team to root for in the Sharks/Kings match-up. I think I may have favored the Sharks only because it's been so frustrating to watch them play supremely well during the season and then trip at the finish line.

Anyway, I'm having a yarn vs pattern fail right now. I know where you've been. ;)

  9. Earl Grey is such a lovely simple but effective pattern - been on my list for ever! Can't wait to see them progress.

  10. I agree with Contessa, hockey talk rocks! LOL Don't get too excited about your boys, they've choked in later rounds the past few years. Yeah, that's me being bitter. ;)

YAY for new socks! Can't wait to see them grow.
