Greetings from RollerCoasterLand, where Mr. Right and I will forever be apart. Together. Apart. Rinse, repeat. It's been a tough week, as Mr. Right is preparing to head to Hawaii (!) for work. For a month. Really? We're inseperable for 5+ years and he goes nowhere exciting for work, and then we're apart for 2 months and he scores a trip to Hawaii? Life is *very* unfair (Yes, I'm completely aware that life gets WAY more unfair than this in all kinds of ways. But at the moment, I'm not coping all that well.)
In other news, I cooked for the first time in 2.5 months -- dinner for 6 -- on Sunday night. It was kind of weird being back in the kitchen, but but also fun. And sad. Dinner turned out pretty well though. We had lasagna, artichoke garlic bread, caesar salad and dump cake for dessert. All in all, a pretty good evening.
I also managed to get back to knit night on Monday, and worked a bit more on the Vest From Hell, which is behaving itself at the moment, but is definitely going to be too big when it's finished. Hmmph. Perhaps it would make a good blog giveaway prize? I guess we'll see once I get it all wrapped up.
I got home early enough to take a picture in my driveway (lovely concrete, no?), to give y'all a better idea of the actual color of this thing. That part I like. A lot.
No more progress on the Hedgerow Socks as I seem to have mislaid the pattern and haven't bothered to print another copy. But I have decided to keep on knitting them, thanks to all your helpful comments last week. I think they'll be pretty cute -- and loud! -- once they're finished. But here's a slightly better shot of the color. Yay for sunlight! It's RED, for sure...
But the more I look at it, the more I like it. I should probably look for the pattern or something, assuming the knit fairies aren't going to show up and work on them while I'm sleeping...
That's about all the excitement I have to offer this week. Fortunately for you, there's lots more interesting stuff going on over at WIPW. You should go check it out. Seriously.
I'm sorry about Mr. Right going away some place great for a month. Life really isn't very fair, at times.
ReplyDeleteI love the vest. Too bad it's too big. Maybe you could wear it over something?
I love both WIPs but the socks are already my fave.
ReplyDeleteOn another note though, maybe this time away from the gentleman is a blessing in disguise. An opportunity for you to enjoy life as "YOU".
Life as Paula, without calling him Mr.Right, without being dependent on him being in the same physical space. Cooking, knitting, reading, praying, going out, doing things without him. It's been rough going, but I'm rooting for the best for you both.
I echo what Nicky said. With him so far gone, maybe you can focus on what brings you joy and let this side of your life take a back seat. Prayers for a good resolution.
ReplyDeleteStill loving the socks, that red is fabulous (I have some fire engine red yarn to make socks with, because everyone needs red socks!)
ReplyDeleteHope the distance between you and Mr. helps to bring some sort of peace and resolution to the situation (and I hope it is the right resolution of course!)
Sorry to hear your not coping to well, try and keep knitting and keep positive! The socks look great! Thinking of you!
ReplyDeleteI found you through the WIPW post, and wanted to offer a smile of solidarity. Hard times are rough, regardless of how much better or worse anyone else might have it. Those socks look like just the thing to make you Cheery -- just think of all the places you can go in your fabulous fiery socks!
ReplyDeleteNice socks! You are very dedicated to keep working on a vest that won't fit - if it were me, it'd be balled up in the corner!
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it's going to be too big. How about over a pullover?
ReplyDeleteThe socks, rock!
i think the vest is beautiful & i hope you'll find it fits, even if it is a little looser than you intended.
ReplyDeleteplease finish the socks, I am adoring that color and the pattern.
i'm wishing you all good things... and hoping you won't stop enjoying life's many other blessings while figuring out mr's rightness.
Oh dear, I'm sorry about the trip and perhaps it will help - hopefully.
ReplyDeleteI do love that purple, the third time I've said that for the night and I don't own one scrap of purple yarn... something I may have to remedy.
Take care, I'll keep you in my positive thoughts.
I wish I had some words of wisdom , but all I can say is , hang in there . It will work out somehow , maybe a bit of space will give you another perspective . Sending positive thoughts your way , take care ...
ReplyDeleteLove the red socks , print out that pattern , they're too nice to leave unfinished ;-) !
Yay for cooking again. The menu sounded delicious. Yay for bringing out the vest. Almost finished and the color is really lovely. Loose fitting vests are trendy right now, too. Yay for the cool looking socks. The color and pattern fit so well together.
ReplyDeleteHiya! There's a little surprise waiting for you on my blog today, enjoy!
