I'm SO on the ball this week that I'm actually posting my WIPW entry early. Apparently, miracles do still happen. Unfortunately, none of them are happening in the area of my current knitting progress, but hey... I'll take 'em wherever I can get 'em.
And so. First up: MITTENS!
Mitten #2 is coming along. As you might expect, it's much easier to navigate this time now that I have one under my belt. I knocked round 33 out while I waited at the car wash this afternoon -- only 60 more to go, plus one thumb. I'm hoping to wear them this weekend, but not exactly holding my breath.
I also managed a bit of progress on the cable lace vest (about to be re-dubbed: The Vest That Wouldn't Die). I'm almost to the armholes now, and I swear it'll start looking different soon. I hope...
This shot is much closer to true color than the others. Turns out the lighting is better at Mr. Right's house. Who knew? Anyway, this is what the mittens and vest really look like. Previous pics have been a bit off. Some day the sun will stay up past 5 o'clock and I'll actually be able to take decent pictures again. At least, that's what they tell me.
Don't forget to head over to Tami's blog and check out all the other WIPW progress! There's a metric ton of it these days -- and it's super fun to see what everyone's working on.
Sometimes a second mitten or sock is boring beccause its the second, but that's also what makes it nice ... because its easy, LOL! Looks great!
ReplyDeleteooh cute mitten - i'm sure you'll get them done soon. the vest looks cute - i'm excitd to see it when it's finished. have a great week xx
ReplyDeleteI agree that it is hard to capture certain colors on film, especially reds. That red that you are using for the vest is beautiful. I've always admired Sweaterbabe's designs but have never knitted one before. This is going to be so pretty and versatile when it's done. I can see it worn with a lot of different things, like skinny jeans or leggings and boots.
ReplyDeleteColor is so hard to get right in pictures, especially in winter. Add to that people's different monitors/screens and it's down right impossible. I've had the hardest time with my yarn dyeing to get something close!
ReplyDeleteI hope you finish the mitten on time for the weekend! It's always so exciting to use something you've worked so hard on.
And yes, I was shocked and impressed that you linked to WIPW so early in the day!
Isn't it nice to work a small project and a large project at the same time? You get to balance the shorter rows with the longer ones. Both projects are looking very fine. I hope you find some happy knitting time to get the mittens done.
ReplyDeleteDelusional Knitter - I always seem to be knitting at the ragged edge of my abilities, so the second one of something is more of a relief from the white-knuckle experience of the first than it is boring. :) Maybe as I get better at this...
ReplyDeleteVicki - Thanks! I've cranked out another 15 rounds of mitten since my post - Victory will be MINE!
Autumngeisha - Thank you! I have high hopes for the vest, too. At the moment, wearing it before the weather gets too warm is at the top of my list of hopes. Fingers crossed!
Tami - Thanks, I'm glad it's not just me! I actually wrote my WIPW post last night and linked it when I got up this morning. I wish I could do that more often, but I'm usually knitting as fast as I can at lunch on Wednesday so I'll have something to show!
Marushka C. - Thank you! I do like switching back and forth more than I thought I would. I think some socks are in order once I knock out the rest of this mitten.
Hooray for car knitting! Your mittens are going to be beautiful. And I can't wait to see your cable lace vest. You are making progress!
ReplyDeleteI think 2011 is going to be the Year of Mittens for me (not that I've started any yet, but I have plans, big plans). I can't wait to see yours as an FO
ReplyDeleteAfter I knit my first sock, I thought, "Oh, no! Now I have to make another!" Ever since then, stuff that comes in pairs gets made in pairs. I wish you well with completing the second mitten.
